Gloss is a visual trap, either coming at the cost of quality or meant to disguise the lack thereof. - from Gizmodo's 12/30/11 article, "I Hate Glossy Gadgets"
Personally, I'd have to agree. Sure, it's eye-catching and shiny but think of all of the fingerprints left on your device. You will be a'polishin' at the least everyday--or every ten minutes. Gadgets and fashion alike are turning more metallic and more modern. Exciting but altogether harrowing--especially if it's at the cost of the device's quality.
The last word: As long as the functionality of the device isn't hindered, make it as pretty as you like.
