Falling in Love with the Phantom

Falling in Love with the Phantom

Whew! It's been quite a whirlwind of life events since my last post. But I couldn't go on any longer without posting about this beautiful Céline Phantom in Beige Supple Calfskin Leather.

Celine Phantom 2

Since receiving my beautiful Marc Jacobs in the mail, I've spent so much time selling unused pieces from my collection, even some that have appeared on my blog. There is absolutely nothing like cleansing you life--be it from clutter, negativity, or other unpleasant happenings around us. If you haven't already, take a moment and clear your life of clutter. I started my decluttering journey in my closet!

Once I sold plenty of my items via consignment, I had enough handbag funds to go searching for a new companion.

A long time ago I posted about my cousin's girlfriend's beautiful Taupe Celine Phantom. Every time I saw it, I would always silently (and sometimes not so silently) ooh and ah at its beauty. However, I know it was a little bit light for my taste. Luckily, the Phantom comes in a few different variations on that shade--some of them being Taupe, Light Khaki/Beige, and Khaki.

The bag is incredibly soft and smells unbelievable. Not to mention, the leather is incredibly sturdy. It's a beautiful hue for all the seasons. I used this bag as a subject for a photo shoot about a month ago. Even after taking it outside and posing it next to various plants and--eek--even on the ground, it still looks brand new.

Phantom Face

This close-up above shows how the color of the bag changes depending upon in what light the bag appears. The pictures from the outdoor photo shoot are more Taupe-looking, except in most lights, the bag is most certainly darker.

Celine Phantom Interior

The Céline's beautiful suede interior is a touch darker than its exterior, making it a beautiful and discreet two-tone. As you can see above, the bag comfortably fits my MacBook Air 11" computer, iPad, folder, wallet, and other essentials. It can also fit my MacBook Pro Retina 15", but it stretches the bag a little. Though it can fit the larger computer and can certainly hold an incredible amount, I am not so keen about pushing the bag's boundaries. It never once felt as if it were going to break (so no worries there), but keeping the bag to a "healthy-full" is my preference for usage.

As far as value goes, you can't go wrong with Céline. After Louis Vuitton's most recent price increase, there are some canvas bags that push $2,000 USD with tax. When purchased, this all-leather and suede beauty cost $2700, just a little more than canvas from Vuitton. If you want leather from Vuitton, be prepared to fork out $3,000 USD or more. But Céline seems to be catching up, price-wise. In just two days on November 18, 2013, there is a market-wide price increase coming to Céline bags that is pushing $3,000 USD and up for the Mini Luggage tote. I'm not sure about the price for supple calfskin phantoms (like the one here) yet, but I will update the post with info when I do.

Overall, it is an incredibly wonderful bag. From the type of material to the value itself, it's a great fit to any handbag collection. You cannot go wrong with a Céline Phantom!

Prada Scrunchy Driving Moccasin

Prada Scrunchy Driving Moccasin

When I saw these shoes, they immediately reminded me of my aunt. Ever since I was a little girl, my aunt's style has really inspired me. She always has the cutest shoes, to-die-for handbags, and most appropriate taste in putting together an outfit. Her love for designers like Prada and Chanel, and her low-key but high class taste continues to inspire my own fashion sense. So, I had to take a picture when I saw these!

Prada shoes

Loafers...moccasins...whatever you like to call them--are my favorite kind of shoe! They are comfortable but also exude a classy, casual elegance to an outfit, especially when paired with demure clothing and handbag. Perfect for the office, no doubt. These are beautiful Prada driving moccasins in nude. The colors available are diverse--from a forest green to metallic gold, a bright pink, metallic silver, a cognac-looking brown, and black. There might be more colors, but having seen those in person, the nude and forest green were my favorites! I had to try them on, and they are extremely comfortable, providing good support. I'd recommend these without a doubt!

Yves Saint Laurent Cabas Chyc Tote in Gray

I've been CRAZY about this bag forever! I never thought I'd have the possibility of getting one for ages, having to save up for my accessories, project after project. With my Chloe Marcie debacle still unsolved, I finally had the chance this weekend to return the bag. I decided against ordering another Chloe, since I was really worried about the hobo strap. I thought I would feel comfortable with the hobo style, but in all reality, I wasn't. So why get something that I will be afraid of using? The Chloe was a graduation gift from my parents, and I was reluctant to return it but since it was marred by defects there really wasn't another choice. I decided to make a switch!

Cabas Chyc

After exchanging the bag, I walked away with the medium YSL Cabas Chyc tote in gray! The store's stock had been quickly depleted and the YSL Cabas was the last medium in the store; I was told they weren't going to replenish anytime soon. I was on the fence about returning the Chloe for a Proenza Schouler, but for such a trendy, casual bag, I didn't think it was worth it. The Cabas is definitely an iconic tote that will be timeless. The Proenza overall was too casual for me, and I haven't heard good things about bag integrity--a MUST for me after this poor Chloe experience.

I had always considered a large in the Cabas, but it is a little too large for me, despite my love for big bags. The medium is the perfect size for a chic tote. Maybe it's not the bag to tote around my work and school materials, but there are other bags in my collection suitable for that task. A bag for every occasion, right?

This graduation gift disaster made a 180-turn into a beautiful, new piece in my collection--of a bag I lusted after, no doubt. Do you have any bad-bag to good-bag stories?

Stuart Weitzman Elastic-Trim Nude Pumps

I'm not a heels person. Not even these tame lovelies intrigued me.

Being so used to flats, I was hesitant to go on a search for heels for my cousin's wedding. With one of my heels being pretty narrow, I am reluctant to buy higher than 3 inch shoes or even wedges, as sturdy as they are. And the smaller the heel, the worse it is for me. Let's not consider the trips and falls I've embarked on throughout my life... Some people just can't do heels!

Stuart Weitzman Heels

Despite all of this, I still went on a shoe-adventure! My friend and I managed to find these comfy Stuart Weitzman pumps. I've always wanted a pair of nude heels that wouldn't slip off, and doesn't hurt me as soon as start to walk in them. The wedding came and went--and let me tell you, these shoes carried me through the entire day! I only got some seriously understandable foot pain after running (well as fast as you can in heels) and dancing for four hours. Simply amazing. And my smaller heel never slipped out of the shoe. This is such a win for me. I had to share!

What are your best shoe moments?
