(Yves) Saint Laurent Arty Ring

(Yves) Saint Laurent Arty Ring

The past week was spent at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV. Despite lots of walking and producing, I had some time to spend on the strip, and I grabbed something special from CityCenter's Yves Saint Laurent store. Yes, it does still say YSL on the store, and nearly everything in there is on sale! If you're anywhere near Vegas, head to the YSL store there for some good deals before all the new Saint Laurent Paris merchandise is stocked. They do have the new Cabas ChYc bags there as well as the old ones.

But back to the subject...after visiting Louis Vuitton, I moved over to Yves Saint Laurent and spotted the beautiful Arty rings and bracelets. Always an appreciator of the trend, I decided to try on as many as possible! (Insert sly smile here.) The colors available were incredibly beautiful and vivid. From turquoise blues to gold-filled corals, deep woody browns, blacks and greens, the Artys dazzled me. Keeping true to myself, I found the perfect subdued gold Arty ring. I do admit to being extremely obsessed with neutrals, so this ring completely fit in my accessories collection.

Beauties in Blue: Kelsi Dagger Erna Pumps

Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a great holiday season and are settling into beautiful, new 2013.

These beautiful Kelsi Dagger Erna pumps were found on a Gilt sale a few weeks ago. Sadly, I couldn't get them in time for New Years Eve, but they will prove to be lovely shoes for a party or other special occasion.

Though my feet are currently ailing from blisters via other new shoes worn during NYE (ladies, how do you get past the awful blister stage with new shoes?? I need all the help I can get.), I cannot wait to get my newly healed feet back in these beauties. Recommended to size a half down, the Erna pumps are the perfect height for a novice heel wearer like myself. The midsize heel is perfect for parties because not only are they stunning but they are comfortable and easy to get around in. Perfect for your next color-block outfit, these are going to be timeless yet trendy pumps.

Seeing Double?: Charles Jourdan vs. Fendi & Givenchy

It's always very interesting to see how styles from top designers funnel into designs for other brands. While perusing a Neiman's LastCall handbag sale, I found these premier designer lookalikes. Inspired by a thread on The Purse Forum, I'm very interested in encouraging others to support legitimate, "screened" brands instead of purchasing fakes off the street. While perhaps not every fashion brand is attentive to material origins or working conditions (and if you REALLY do care about this, do your homework! I hope to learn more about where handbag materials originate by brand and also working conditions), I'd like to start and recommend that if you cannot afford to buy the original style of bag, look to legitimate and "safe" brands rather than buying fakes from street vendors (notably in NYC). I cannot stress this enough! I've done human rights organizing for years, but haven't yet focused on corporate issues. I do hope to learn more as I continue on my handbag journey!

Charles Jourdan is sold in Last Call Neiman Marcus stores, and definitely is a bang for your buck!

Want the look of a Fendi Pequin without dropping $1700US? This CJ inspiration could be your ticket.

Charles Jourdan Peoni Linen-Leather Bag vs. Fendi Chameleon Duffel

One of the coolest bags recently, the Fendi Chameleon Duffel, is absolutely stunning. While not a complete copy, the Charles Jourdan inspiration gives the bare aesthetic of the Chameleon but remains unique in its hardware.

Perhaps one of the most iconic bags, the Givenchy Antigona is absolutely stunning. The shape is not only incredibly structured but is also very practical in size and strength. This Charles Jourdan inspiration is a great alternative if spending $2400US is not your cup of tea.

Overall, I do prefer the originals to the inspirations, but I definitely encourage purchasing "inspired" versions by real brands like Charles Jourdan over fakes. I strongly encourage you do so, too!

Who Styles It Best: Kate Spade or Louis Vuitton?

Who Styles It Best: Kate Spade or Louis Vuitton?

Perhaps the most interesting similarity I've seen recently is the Kate Spade "Wish You Were Here Coal" tote and the Summer 2010 Louis Vuitton Ailleurs collection totes. As soon as I saw it, I was strongly reminded of the Summer 2010 Vuittons. While not a simple imitation, it is very reminiscent.

As my readers may know by now, I am completely in LOVE with Louis, so I must say I'd definitely prefer the Ailleurs over the Kate Spade tote. Having recently acquired a Kate Spade iPhone and iPad case, my opinion of the KSNY brand is not a negative one, but I think the green handles and the green bottom of the Kate Spade tote lessens its "pop" and overall glamour.

Which would you choose?

Louis Vuitton Bijou Sac Naif Passion & Grenadine

Usually, I tend to stay away from such small accessories like bag charms. Well, from luxury brands like Louis Vuitton at the least. It's an easy way to make a dent in your monthly earnings. But something about this summer bag charm couldn't keep me away--and in two colors!

This LV Summer 2012 charm is the perfect way to brighten up any handbag you own--depending on your color scheme, of course. When I saw both of these colors, I decided to do double the damage. Was I crazy? Probably. Was it worth it? Totally! Both of the charms--in Passion and Grenadine--add a beachy-flair to your handbag whether you're spending the day on the town or biking to the shore.

Which color do you like the most? Do you use bag charms?
