Longchamp Limited Edition "Tree of Life" Le Pliage Tote

I was cleaning out my closet a few days ago, and found this perfect tote for springtime. Released in 2011, this Longchamp Le Pliage Large Tote in the limited run of "Tree of Life" is just itching to be used in this nice bout of weather we're having!

Like most Le Pliage totes, this piece is made from nylon with leather trimming. It's the ideal bag to not worry about getting something on it as you can scrub any imperfection off with water and a washcloth. The birds are a particular favorite of mine. They're very colorful without taking away from the beauty of the tree itself.

This is one of my favorite bags because it can easily fit my 15 inch laptop, iPad, journals, books, wallet, sunglasses and other accouterments. It's the best during a rainy day since the nylon responds well to the water. While it's certainly nowhere near the caliber of a typical Celine or Saint Laurent bag, the Longchamp Le Pliage is a great piece to have in your wardrobe due to its versatility and ease of cleaning.

Givenchy Large Pandora Messenger in Black Pepe Leather

Let's face it--we're all working hard for the beautiful accouterments in our lives!

After a few freelance jobs and ruthless saving, I managed to snatch up one of these gorgeous Givenchy Pandora messenger bags. It was the last one in my local Neimans, and my boyfriend was kind enough to phone days ahead and save it for me--super sweet, yes? I've been pining over this bag for over half a year. It was time to make a move!

I was looking for a bag that would be an alternate to my trusty Balenciaga and serve me well for IFBCON 2012 (Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference in New York). The bag needed to be large and sturdy enough to fit an iPad or a small laptop, appropriate chargers, and the essentials. I also wanted something that was both discreet and luxurious. The black pepe, textured leather is both thick and gorgeous. Its integrity is amazing and the look is timeless.

It's rare that I buy a bag that I can use with the top handle. While using a bag on the elbow is undeniably trendy, to me it isn't comfortable and ends up being more of a burden than practical. Since I don't have the smallest of arms (I blame it on the tennis I played in high school), the Pandora is able to fit on my shoulder using the main handle and when used, I have no doubt that it is going to hold my items. For the strap options of this bag alone, the purchase was worth it.

After my Chloe mishap, I needed an experience like this to turn everything around. I couldn't be happier. I'm in bag-love!

Fashion bloggers, are you headed to IFBCON, too?

Chloe Large Marcie Hobo in Dove

Super-psyched is what you'd call my reaction when I brought my Chloe Marcie Hobo back to my home. It was a bag that was on my wish list for the longest time, and my parents got it for me for graduation from graduate school--so generous, right?! One of the reasons why I was drawn to the bag was the iconic leather stitching on the front of the bag. The leather is soft, pebbled and luxurious, and the interior is spacious.  The Marcie is unmistakeable and a certified, subdued stunner! The bag fits comfortably under the arm and looks amazing!

NB:  I usually write positive-centric reviews about items. To be fair, I rarely have issues with my purchases. Luckily. But this time, I've been disappointed. And I couldn't write this without being honest with my readers.

Long story short:  I've experienced a defective bag and way-less-than-satisfactory customer service at my local department store. Speaking only of the bag, though, the integrity of my singular *large* hobo bag handle is weak. I emphasize the bag size because I've felt and seen that the smaller hobo handle seems to have more durability. Within days of initial purchase the handle started to break. I didn't even have a lot in the bag. Heck, I was just trying it on at home. All that was in there was just my iPad, wallet and a few other essentials. Nothing incredibly heavy. Then after repair from the department store, the handle still pulls. I'm frightened to take it out of the house; it seems sure to fall apart eventually. I'm sure there are lots of lucky Marcie Hobo owners, but sadly I'm not one of them.

Having never even left my house wearing the bag, I'm definitely returning this. Perhaps I'll pick up another Chloe but I'm not feeling too positive about it. Perhaps a Proenza Schouler? I'm still in love with Chloe and the Marcie Hobo, but I'm incredibly hesitant to get another one. Enjoy your Marcies, but please be extra careful that your bag's handle isn't defective!

Do you have any bag-nightmare stories?
