Louis Vuitton Pochette W

Louis Vuitton Pochette W

Just launched on 1 January, 2014, this pochette by Louis Vuitton is the perfect way to start the new year! Retailing at $1,000USD, this stunning pochette is an extension of the W bag, which has been a recent hit among Vuitton collectors and handbag enthusiasts.

W pochette 3

The W tote retails for over $4,000 and has two options in most styles--the PM or the GM. For the price point and the practicality, I highly recommend this piece for your accessories collection.

W pochette 4

With similar design to its bigger brother, the W tote, this style has Chocolate Veau Cachemire calfskin and monogram canvas.

W interior

The interior is practical and spacious for a pochette. Its calf leather lining includes six card slots and a pouch inside, perfect for receipts and cash. The pochette easily turns into a wallet, and is large enough to fit an iPad mini inside the main compartment. It can easily fit an iPhone inside. I would only recommend fitting one device inside as to not stretch the pochette.

W side view

As you can see from the side, even when filled with an iPad Mini, credit cards, tissues, cash, and receipts, it is comfortable and not overly stuffed. It is quite the chic and practical accessory, with a loop to carry it on the hand. The W Pochette measures at 10.6" x 7.1". It is perfect for running errands and also for a night out with friends!

Getting this W Pochette was a great start to the new year! I've already used it a bunch of times for both errands and a night out in Manhattan with a best girlfriend of mine. I must add that it particularly came in hand whenever I had to carry two Starbucks lattes out of the store along with a hot pretzel--the pochette just dangled freely from my wrist, making the task so simple. I'm not a clutch kind of gal, but this pochette converted me! I'm usually one to go for big bags and totes, but I've been trying to downsize. And the W Pochette is my favorite new small accessory!

Everything's Coming Up Roses: Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse Roses Speedy 30

I've been trying to wean myself off of the Vuitton monogram for a while, but I still hold some styles near and dear. Unfortunately I wasn't "in" to Louis Vuitton in 2009 when they released their limited Stephen Sprouse Roses collection.

My favorite limited edition collection to date, Vuitton Roses is a classic style that is perfect for the spring and summer. It is a fun, casual look that is coveted by many Vuitton collectors (I should know... I've been drooling over this fun print for a very long time!) I found this Speedy 30 on a reputable online consignment store and had it authenticated by two different parties before purchasing.

When it finally arrived in the mail, I was ecstatic. The roses have more of a colorful pop than in the photos I viewed and it is in very good condition.

When cared for properly, Speedy bags can mature beautifully, leaving a honeyed patina on the vachetta and the canvas becomes smooth and flexible. Compared to my first Speedy, the blue Yayoi Kusama, which is stiff with virgin leather, this aged bag is a welcomed piece in my collection.

Stay tuned for an upcoming article about buying pre-owned luxury items and a look into the consignment business with a professional!

Organize in Style: Louis Vuitton Kusama Dots Infinity Agenda

So, iCal is nice. I enjoy using a cloud-controlled calendar. It's convenient and let's face it, it makes me feel "on top of things". But there is nothing that is going to take away the place of a beautiful, paper agenda.

LV Agendas

I must admit, I was particularly drawn to the yellow/black combination because I'm a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan (born and raised near "da Burgh"). It's not as subtle as my other accessories, but it's incredibly fun and is a great mini-agenda for the road. It's especially perfect when a larger agenda or even an iPad wont do.

This particular small agenda is in the Infinity Dots collection (also available in red/white and black/white), but recently released as well in a Monogram Town Dots pattern in red, green, and white. See below.

Do you use an agenda in addition or instead of the calendar on your phone, tablet, or computer?

100th Blog Post: Louis Vuitton Monogram Kusama

If you can believe it, it's The Shoulder Strap's 100th blog post! It's not even been a year, and I'm happy to say that I've had a fantastic time so far with this blog. It is such a release--a fantastic outlet to throw creativity into, and I am driven everyday by my readers and the beautiful accessories that come onto the market.

What I'm writing about today is the absolutely beautiful Yayoi Kusama for Louis Vuitton collection. Since the summer, there have been two launches--one in July and one recently in September. The earlier collection was mostly vernis patent leather with various colors of polka dots, as seen below.

The later collection, just released on September 7 in the US, is primarily focused on the Monogram Town Square pattern, which is highlighted by original pictures in this post. The Monogram Town Square pattern was overwhelmingly more popular than the initial collection. Often compared to a Mickey or Minnie Mouse kind of pattern, there are lots of items still available from the first collection at stores nationwide. These new monogram town dots, though, are flying off the shelves!

I was lucky to grab a few pieces to add to my collection before they go away forever. To me, the red stood out the most. As I was incredibly lucky to add a Monogram Rayures to my collection, I decided to stay away from the white even though I loved it. Money doesn't grow on trees, or I probably would've grabbed a blue Kusama Speedy as well! :) As you can see above, the interior of the Zippy Wallet is red leather. It's a simply beautiful piece that is both sturdy and gorgeous! I would definitely recommend the Zippy wallet over the Insolite. The leather zipper pulls quickly curl (and stay that way!) and doesn't look as "new" as a Zippy might after a few months. I say this because my Monogram Rayures Insolite wallet isn't aging as well as I had thought. Only using it a few times, it doesn't hold well in the dust bag. Definitely consider this when purchasing an Insolite!

Perhaps my favorite part of the new collection is the Neverfull. Not having any red accessories (surprisingly), I decided to choose this gorgeous bag. Another reason is because it is notable that most if not all of the limited Neverfull bags are made with a stronger, more durable canvas. The Monogram Rayures has the same integrity of product. One of the best things about the bag is the interior! Peeking out of the back, if you can see, is this beautiful red and black spotted fabric lining.  Something certain to be a great collector's item today and years from now.

What do you think of the newest Kusama collection?

Louis Vuitton iPhone 4 Softcase in Orient

Nothing is more elegant than soft leather--especially Louis Vuitton's Monogram Empreinte!

This beauty in Orient is just ready to be your phone's protector this summer. Incredibly durable for a soft leather case, I never feel like my iPhone is chancing it by donning some Louis. One of the more "affordable" LV pieces, the iPhone Softcase is perfect if you feel like splurging for an everyday piece to add to your collection.
